Kelvin, let's start from the beginning. When did your educational journey begin?
I started school in 1998, full of curiosity and excitement. I completed my KCPE in 2008, scoring 410 out of 500 marks, which placed me among the top pupils in my class and community.
That's impressive! What followed in high school?
I joined secondary school and completed my KCSE in 2012, earning an A- (78 points). It was a defining period — not only academically but also in learning discipline and persistence.
And then came university life — tell us about that.
Yes, I joined campus shortly after. However, during my third year, around 2015, I felt drawn to entrepreneurship. That's when I founded Brimcotech Solutions, a tech and innovation company focused on business and ICT solutions. Balancing school and business became challenging, so my studies experienced a delay.
So Brimcotech was born while you were still a student?
Exactly. It was a leap of faith. I paused my academic progress for a while to grow the company, which gained traction between 2015 and 2024. I've since returned to university in 2025, now completing my fourth year — finally picking up where I left off.
That's a remarkable journey of persistence. I understand you've also faced some health challenges recently?
Yes. In 2024, I developed a walking condition — I now walk slightly bent to one side. It wasn't from birth; it resulted from side effects of strong antipsychotic and mood-stabilizing medication. I'm currently on treatment to counteract those side effects while still managing my mental health responsibly.
Would you be comfortable sharing why you were prescribed those medications?
Sure. In the past, I struggled with substance use, and when I stopped, I experienced severe withdrawal symptoms that included psychotic episodes and mood instability. The medication helps stabilize my mental state, and I continue to receive professional medical care and therapy.
How would you describe your mood now?
It's much more balanced. The mood stabilizers help keep things steady as I continue healing and focusing on constructive pursuits like business and academics.
That level of honesty and self-awareness is powerful. What message would you give to young people dealing with setbacks, whether academic, business, or personal?
I'd say — pause, don't quit. Life is not a straight line. I've had academic delays, health challenges, and personal battles, but each one has taught me resilience. The key is to seek help when needed, stay grounded, and keep creating.

Our goal is to expand into digital infrastructure and educational technology — to empower schools and businesses with smart, affordable ICT solutions. I also aim to finish my degree next year and continue mentoring young entrepreneurs.
